STI Interviews Guide 2026: Dates, Documents and 5-Mark Interview
The STI selection process has reached its interview stage. After the initial merit list on 23 October and the objections window on 26 and 27 October, shortlisted candidates will face interviews on 29 and 30 October 2026. This guide explains what the interview is, who is called, which documents to carry, and what happens after it.
If you have not yet checked your position, read the STI merit list guide and the STI objections guide first, because the interview list is built on the same school-wise merit lists. Both guides explain the stages that lead directly into the interview.

What the STI Interview Is
The interview is the last selection step before the final merit list. It carries 5 marks out of a total of 100, while academic record carries the rest: graduation 55, intermediate 15, matric 15, and professional qualification 10. Because the academic marks are already fixed on the merit list, the interview is your last chance to add marks, but it cannot rescue a very low academic score on its own.
The interview is short and focused on verification. The panel checks that you are the same person named on the merit list and that your original documents match the record you submitted. It is not a written test, and no new syllabus is announced for it. Candidates who treat it as a document check, and answer simple questions about their education calmly, are in the best position.
Who Is Called for the Interview
Only shortlisted candidates are called. Shortlisting follows the initial merit list of 23 October 2026, corrected for any objections accepted on 26 and 27 October. If your name is on your school’s list after the objections stage, you should prepare for the interview. Candidates who did not apply by the 18 October deadline, or whose names are not on the list, are not part of this stage.
There is no separate application for the interview. Your original online application, submitted through the STI portal before the deadline, is your entry ticket. Keep a printout of that application with your documents, because it links your CNIC, your school choice, and your merit record in one place. If you are unsure about your status, check the school notice board and the STI portal before the interview dates.
STI Interview Dates and Full Schedule
Interviews will be held on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October 2026. These two days are fixed in the official selection schedule announced by Punjab Education on 20 October 2026, and every later step depends on them. Candidates should keep both days free, because the exact reporting day for each school is confirmed locally, not through a province-wide timetable.
The full schedule runs from the closed application window to the start of the internship. The table below lists every stage in order, so you can see where the interview sits and what follows it. Dates after the interview, including the final list and agreement letters, are part of the same schedule and have not changed.
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Online applications closed | 18 October 2026, 11:59 PM |
| Initial merit list | 23 October 2026, school notice board |
| Objections | 26–27 October 2026, tehsil-level committee |
| Interviews | 29–30 October 2026 |
| Final merit list | 31 October 2026, 10:00 AM |
| Agreement letters | 2 November 2026, STI portal |
| Internship period | 3 November 2026 to 31 May 2027 |
Documents You Must Carry
Original documents are the core of the interview, because the panel verifies them against your application record. Photocopies alone are not enough, and a missing original can delay or damage your case even if your merit position is strong. Arrange your file a day before the interview, in the order listed below, so nothing is left behind in a hurry.
The list below covers what shortlisted candidates are asked to bring. B.Ed, M.Ed, or ADE certificates apply only if you hold such a qualification, but every other item applies to all candidates. Keep two photocopies of your CNIC with the original, and carry recent passport-size photographs for the joining file.
- Original CNIC and two photocopies
- Original Matric, Intermediate, and degree certificates with transcripts
- B.Ed, M.Ed, or ADE certificates, if applicable
- Domicile certificate
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Printout of your STI portal application

What Happens on Interview Day
On the day, report at the place and time confirmed for your school, and carry your complete document file. The panel will check your identity and your original documents, and may ask short questions about your education and your interest in teaching. The meeting is brief, so clear and honest answers matter more than long speeches. Dress neatly and arrive early, because late reporting can create problems on a tight two-day schedule.
No travel allowance is paid for appearing in the interview, so plan your own travel and expenses. Bring your own water and food if needed, and keep your documents in a folder that protects them from rain or damage. If any document is missing, tell the panel honestly instead of offering an incorrect paper, because verification is the whole point of this stage.
How to Confirm Your Interview Venue and Timing
The advertisement does not clearly name one interview venue for all candidates, so do not trust a venue forwarded on social media. Your school notice board is the first place to check, because interviews are arranged school-wise for the schools that advertised seats. The STI portal also carries updates, and the final merit list appears there as well.
If your school notice board does not show the arrangement, contact your tehsil education office or the District Education Authority, which formed the tehsil-level committees for objections. Do not wait until the morning of 29 October to ask, because the interview window is only two days long. A short visit a day earlier can save a missed interview.
Stipend and Tenure After Selection
Selected interns receive a fixed monthly stipend based on the level of the seat, not on negotiation. Primary seats pay Rs. 38,000 per month, elementary seats pay Rs. 40,000, and high and higher secondary seats pay Rs. 45,000. The stipend is paid for the internship period only, and the table below lists each level clearly.
The internship is temporary and runs from 3 November 2026 to 31 May 2027. It will not be regularized into a permanent post, but selected interns receive an experience certificate on completion. That certificate, along with classroom experience in a government school, is the lasting benefit of the programme.
| Level | Monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Primary | Rs. 38,000 |
| Elementary | Rs. 40,000 |
| High and Higher Secondary | Rs. 45,000 |
Mistakes That Can Cost You a Seat
Most interview problems are avoidable, and they come from carelessness rather than lack of ability. Candidates lose marks or miss their turn by trusting the wrong notice board, by trusting screenshots instead of the school list, or by arriving without original documents. A calm check of your own school’s list, and a file prepared the night before, prevents almost all of these errors.
Time is the other common mistake. The objections window has already closed by the interview dates, so errors in the merit list can no longer be corrected at the interview. Treat the two interview days as fixed, keep both free, and do not plan travel that depends on a single day.
- Going to the interview without original documents
- Checking the wrong school’s notice board
- Trusting unofficial screenshots instead of the school list and the portal
- Missing your reporting day in the two-day window
- Arriving late without a complete document file
